WELCOME TO THE CUB SCOUT PACK 88 WEBPAGE

What a great beginning to the new scouting year!  We have lots of new faces, help and ideas.  Thank you to all the parents, grandparents, and extended family who have stepped up to make this a great year.

We have 10 scouts this year.  This is up from previous years.  That is a great sign.  We are making the program more formal this year and hopefully this will make things much smoother.

Because our pack is so small we are going to be having combined Den Meetings on every Wednesday beginning November 5th.  These will be from 6pm to 7pm.  The location will vary from the Lamoine School to the Lamoine Fire Department.

We have added a Camp Scholarship Committee this year to help out with sending out scouts to camp.  This Committee will be asking local businesses for funds to give to a few of our scouts to pay for camp expenses.

We have also added a Fundraising Chair to our Committee.  Jeanee Smart will be working with outside businesses to get great fund raisers for us to make money for miscellaneous expenses and camp expenses.  She has a million great ideas and we are very happy to have her with us.  If you have any idea or suggestions for her, please contact her at jbc_smart@yahoo.com

We are making the training program manditory for all adults that will be helping out in any way with the pack.  This is important because it gives us the information we need to make the program succeed.  Our first training will be on Sunday, January 11th at 6pm during our normally scheduled committee meeting.  This is basic training and mandatory for all adults involved in the scouting program.

We are also encouraging as many committee members and den leaders to attend the monthly roundtables offered by the Katahdin Area Council.  These are held on the third Thursday of every month at the Ellsworth Middle School.  This is a chance for us to share ideas with other area packs and get new ideas.

We will also have the pleasure of having 2 MDI High School students helping us with the program this year.  Will Dickey, a current Seascout, and Joseph Fallica.  These two young men have been an amazing addition to our pack.  They add a young outlook to the program and the scouts absolutely love being with them.

We have had a wonderful beginning to the scout year and are excited about the coming months.  We have a lot planned for next year.  We will see everyone on Wednesday, January 7th at 6pm at the Lamoine Fire Station!

Happy Holidays!!!!!

 UPCOMING EVENTS

Next Den/Pack Meetings

We have decided this year to hold the Den and Pack Meetings all at the same but seperate the boys into den groups.  These will be held every Wednesday at 6pm either at the Lamoine School or the Lamoine Fire Department depending upon the School's schedule.  Please look at the schedule to see where it will be for the upcoming week.

Committee Meetings

Committee Meetings will be held on a monthly basis on the second Sunday of every month at 6:00pm at the Lamoine Fire Department.  These will be adult only meetings but all parents, grandparents, and area adults are welcome to attend.

Christmas Tree Sale, Holiday Parade & Holiday Party

Congratulations to all the boys and parents in pack 88.  We raised a combined total of $276.59 with trees and donations.  Not too bad for two weekends worth of work.  The boys stuck it out well in the weather conditions that we faced.

I also wanted to say great job to all the parents and boys who marched in the Holiday Parade.  This was a great way to make the Pack stand out in the community.

Our holiday party was a great success.  We all had a great time and excellent food.  Thank you so much to all that attended and helped with the event.

January

Our meetings will pick back up on January 7th at 6pm at the Lamoine Fire Department.  This month we have our Pinewood Derby scheduled for January 25th, Sunday at 2pm.  We will be sending out flyers for the community to attend.  We will be collecting donations for camp at the door, selling concessions and selling/drawing several door prizes throughout the event.  This should be a great fundraiser for camp.

We also have a mandatory training scheduled for all adults involved with the pack on Sunday, January 11th at 6pm.  This is one of many scheduled trainings that we will be holding to help us run the Pack more efficiently.

Don't forget....

Our charter renews in December.  At this time the dues for the year will need to be paid.  If you have not paid the dues for your boy or yourself, please do this as soon as possible as the money needs to be in to council at the end of the year.  Contact Dick Willard to take care of this.  Also, we will be again discussing changing our Chartered Organization as the Lamoine Church is going through some difficult times.  More information about this will be released as it is available.
